Meet Spiwe Jefferson

Author of the
Mindful in 5® Series
I started this work because I care deeply about the mental and emotional wellness of my colleagues and friends.
Over 40 million adults (19.1% of the population) suffer from an anxiety disorder in the U.S, according to Anxiety Disorders - Facts and Statistics as reported by The Anxiety & Depression Association of America (accessed October 1, 2023).

As a successful attorney, I've seen many colleagues and friends attain traditional markers of success: prestigious jobs, thriving careers, marriages, cars, and children. Yet, atop their accomplishment hill, many felt exhausted, stressed, and disillusioned, asking, "Is this all there is?"

This insight led to Mindful in 5. Years ago during my divorce, I turned to mindfulness meditation to navigate that dark season. While numerous books taught mindful eating or walking, none offered a step-by-step approach for applying mindfulness to work or personal challenges. I yearned for a guide as engaging as one of my favorite books, "Who Moved My Cheese?" by Dr. Spencer Johnson.

And so Mindful in 5 was born. My intention is to arm busy professionals with specific science-backed mindfulness meditation tools  to help them reduce stress, increase personal effectiveness, and approach work and life  from a position of greater personal power and (self) compassion.

Through the Mindful in 5 ecosystem (books, podcasts, videos, tools), I aim to guide you to a higher purpose, transforming work-life chaos into meaningful, mindful working. My unique perspectives are designed to offer new approaches to daily challenges.

Since 2004, I've immersed myself in mindfulness techniques from various God-centered and secular organizations. Join me on this transformative journey, where we'll foster stress reduction, heightened effectiveness, resilience, and a growth mindset in the workplace, regardless of external pressures.

Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) is an eight-week evidence-based program that offers secular, intensive mindfulness training to assist people with stress, anxiety, depression and pain. Developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn, MBSR uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness, yoga and exploration of patterns of behaviour, thinking, feeling and action.

Based on the foundational methods of Jon Kabat-Zinn, the Life Success Academy is established to help individuals live a better and more satisfying life. In addition to her meditation certifications, Spiwe holds a Juris Doctor degree, a CTM certification through Toastmasters International, and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI).
